One of the biggest problems that comes from internet dating is the way the whole process from start to finish is handled.

Because you never know who is going to respond to your online profile you never know how you are going to be treated.

This is something that can continue all the way until the first date is over. You just do not know how it is going to end up. So here is the best internet dating tip I can give you. Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. The old Golden Rule is still the best policy today as it has been for years before.

If you are being set up by a friend you can usually trust their judgement that at the very least your date will go through and they will be polite. If not you will let your friend know about it and probably not date anyone else that they recommend.

With internet dating some people seem to feel as though they have the right to treat others like dirt and this is part of the reason internet dating has had a bad reputation in the past. They do not respond to emails, they lie on their profiles, they are vague in the way they reply and they schedule dates and do not show up. This is just plain rude and a lot of people feel it is enough to make them want to return the favor.

In the long run you are better off to try and behave decently yourself and you will find most of the responses you get will be the same. Return emails or phone calls. Be honest. If you do not want to go out with someone politely tell them so. You are not required to date everyone who contacts you.

If they take the time to contact you from the heart be honest back. If you get a firm email or a firm letter that is another matter and you really do not have to feel like you should respond in earnest.

If you go on a date and it is a dud you have no obligation to go out again, but be up front and honest about it. If you decide, before your first date, that you have had second thoughts then just let them know you have changed your mind. Wish them luck and move on.

We are talking about just being a decent person in the internet dating process. Treating people properly would seem to be accepted as normal, but online dating brings out some strange characters and some strange behaviour.

The best internet tip we can give you is be yourself and move on if someone is not treating you the way you feel they should.

Finding time means competing with Email, Google and Amazon for your attention. What are ways you can keep your focus where you want it?

Tips to Keep You on Track and In Charge!

Internet Tip #1: Whenever possible, limit your time online to certain times of day. Schedule e-mail and Internet scans after you have accomplished items on your To-Do List.

Internet Tip #2: Close your e-mail and turn off your instant messaging and RSS feeds. Respecting this boundary you set will help keep you on track.

Internet Tip #3: Keep your goal foremost in your awareness when you conduct Internet searches. Do not give in to the temptation to read the interesting links that your search uncovers. Return to your task as soon as you have the answer you need.

Internet Tip #4: Bookmark the links that truly interest you. Promise yourself that you will set aside time to pursue some of these later. This makes it easier to let them go NOW!

Internet Tip #5: Establish a time deadline for your work, so you don’t get pulled into Outer (Cyber)Space.” It is very easy to lose time while you are on the computer. On many calendar systems, you can set an alarm. Use this to set a stop time for yourself. If you are at home and resist switching gears, set an alarm in another room to get you out of your chair and away from the temptation. If at work, try scheduling searches right before a meeting or lunch with a colleague.

Internet Tip #6: Keep an internet log for a week. How much time are you taking to check emails, news and other Internet activities? Record the time you spend and how you are spending it. Use broad categories. Make no judgments. Just record the facts. Once you have the facts, you can make informed choices.

Internet Tip #7: Remember to revisit the emails and links that genuinely interest you. Revisit them after all the items on today’s To-Do List are completed; reward yourself and enjoy! Separate work from play to enhance both.

Remember, if time on the internet is taking you away from other things you need to be doing, you will do well to develop time management techniques. You have an exciting opportunity to look at your priorities and take charge of your choices! When you take more positive control of your internet activity, you will not only be finding more focus … you will also be finding time!

What is your next step for finding time?

Most people starting an online home business do so while working a full-time job and therefore being organized will help you make maximum use of the few hours a day that you have to dedicate to your work at home internet business.

Getting and keeping the contents of your computer organized will save you heaps of time and it is a great idea to set up a good filing system so that you do not waste time looking for web addresses, passwords, files, e-books, emails, images, etc.

If you are starting an online home business that involves joining a few affiliate programs you will have a lot of important information and emails coming in that you will need to refer to. There is nothing more frustrating knowing you have saved a certain file or bookmarked an important web address and not being able to find it.

Firstly, the initial information that you will receive will be in the form of emails and so it is strongly advised that you set up folders in your Outlook so that you can file the emails in the relevant folders. If you join a number of affiliate programs, open a folder for each program.

To setup a new folder in Outlook simply click on FILE in the Menu Bar (the top horizontal menu), in the drop down menu click NEW, then click on FOLDER. A little window will open entitled CREATE FOLDER and you then type in the box entitled FOLDER NAME, the name you would like to give this new folder. Then click OK.

This way you can set up sub-folders too. For example you may have a main folder called XYZ Affiliate Program and you could create subfolders under that for Admin emails and another for Sale Notifications and another for New Signups. In your Outlook main window, select XYZ Affiliate Program, right click and select New Folder and type in the title for your subfolder.

If you make an error or your subfolder appears in the wrong place, do not panic. Just right click on the folder and click delete and try again. Or if you want to rename the folder just right click and choose rename, and enter the correct name.

By setting up folders in Outlook will save you a huge amount of time when you need to locate a certain email and you will find that your Inbox is not full of emails that you have already dealt with or read. There is also the search function in Outlook, should you need it. File the emails in their respective folders as soon as you have dealt with them. Do not forget to file the emails in your Sent Box too into their respective folders. Often it is your reply to an email that you will be looking for.

Your Favorites in Internet Explorer, or whatever browser you are using, is another place that you need to keep well organized as this will save you so much time and frustration.

Again, set up folders and subfolders if necessary. Using Internet Explorer 7 in the Menu Bar, click on Favorites, then choose Organize Favorites from the drop down menu. In the small window that opens click on New Folder and a new folder will be highlighted where you type in the name. You can also move, rename and delete folders here as well. Or you can just select the Star Icon for Favorites so they open down the left hand side of your screen, right click on a folder and choose the option New Folder and type in the name.

By right clicking on a folder and selecting Sort By Name will organize the contents of that folder alphabetically.

Under My Documents be sure to start opening folders there as well to file all the information relating to your work at home internet business, for example your ebook downloads, articles and reviews you may write, Excel spreadsheets, etc.

Another idea is to open a Word document or Excel spreadsheet to keep a note of the affiliate programs you join, their web addresses, referral urls as well as your username and passwords for each program. I personally work with Notepad as I find it opens quicker and I save it to my desktop for easy reference.

A couple of computer protection and maintenance tips: Install good virus protection on your computer and keep your Firewall turned on.

To help keep your computer running well, delete your Temporary Internet Files in Internet Explorer regularly by clicking on Tools, then Internet Options from the drop down menu and under Browsing History select Delete and then under Temporary Internet Files click on Delete. You can also delete your Cookies here too.

Do not forget to use the disk defragmenter regularly (once a week), especially if you are downloading new software or have automatic software updates coming in from Microsoft. Just click your Start button, click on All Programs and select Accessories, then System Tools and Disk Defragmenter. It is advisable to shut down all programs including temporarily disengaging your Screensaver while using the disk defragmenter.

To disengage your screensaver click on Start, Control Panel, Display and in the Display Properties Box click on Screensaver and in the drop down menu under the computer icon select `none` and click Apply. Remember then to go back and reinstate your screensaver once the disk defragmenter has completed its task.

Just a word of warning here, if you do not defrag your hard drive regularly you will experience your computer slowing down and more frustrating is that the defrag process can take hours. If this happens it is advisable to leave the disk defragmenter running overnight while you catch up on some well earned sleep.

You will in time develop your own way of working, but initially when starting an online home business and everything is new and a little confusing you will find it really helpful if you get yourself organized early and get into the habit of filing items where you can find them as well as keeping your computer in peak condition thus avoiding slowdowns and downtime.

Learn great money saving tips with online shopping as they could really give you huge savings if you practice them well. Internet online shopping has been gathering popularity as you can easily sift through many online stores in the shortest time frame to get the best deal, at the click of a mouse button. With discount vouchers, discount codes or promotional codes, you can save even more when shopping online.

5 Essential Money Saving Tips With Internet Online Shopping

1. Always aim for the best deal and save more for the item(s) you desire. Do not immediately settle down with your purchase on the first online store that you come across. Scout through a few of them and make your price comparison to get the best deal. Lookout for sale items especially. Sale prices can be dramatically lower than the standard prices and help you to save big.

2. Always use coupons or discount voucher codes if you know where to check online. There are many websites out there that offer thousands of coupons to almost every online store.

Typically you pay 20% more for an item for shipping fee, and if you are able to save that much with discount vouchers, you are essentially getting free shipping for your items. Every time you get to the last checkout page, just key in the promotional code into the little box will do.

3. Always keep an eye for online rebates given by retailers that can help to save a huge percentage on the selling price. Simple fill out a little form and cut out the UPC code. Use these rebates and save big.

4. Always look out for sites or items that come with free shipping. As mentioned above, shipping fee is normally 20% more than the item price itself. Saving on your shipping can be tremendous if your item costs a lot.

5. Do not miss out those state retailers that do not charge sales tax for your items for your state. The money saving here could be significant too.

With money saving tips above and if you have practiced them well, you can add up and see how much you have easily saved for yourself. The best part is, you don’t even have to walk into a store to save a bundle. Spend some time to search online and I am sure you can find more money saving offers and tips out there. Start saving and enjoy living debt free today!

As a backpacker you can spend quite a bit of time using the Internet to research your destination, make reservations and staying in touch with friends back home. Follow the below tips to avoid common pitfalls and get the most out of the web.

Picking an Internet café

These days you can find Internet cafés almost everywhere. Ask which connection the Internet café has, it is a huge difference between dial-up and 100 megabit broadband so it may be worth going to the more expensive place if their connection is significantly faster.

Usually the customers share the available bandwidth in the Internet café which means the more clients the slower the connection. An empty café may therefore not necessarily be a bad thing. Check the prices and if there is a minimum time consumption before using the computer.

Hotspots which enable wireless access are spreading quite fast these days. You can find them in airports, shopping malls, restaurants, etc. Sometimes they are free for clients so if you bring your mobile device (laptop, cell phone, etc) you can connect without the need to visit an Internet café. There is also a service called FON which is a large wireless connection community where you get free wireless access to the Internet if you share your connection at home.

If you need to connect your digital camera/media player etc bring a USB-cable. If you do not have one check with the café if they have a USB-cable or a card reader so that you can remove the memory card from your device and connect it to the computer.

Surfing the web

More than once we have composed a nice mail, hit the send button only to get an error message in return. Hitting the back button then only returned a blank screen. ¤&#¤/&#/&¤!! The best way to avoid this is to open up a text editor (e.g. notepad or WordPad) and write your message there. When you are finished select the text, copy it, switch to your e-mail and paste the text.

Those from countries using unusual letters (such as the Swedish letters å, ä, ö) may find it very frustrating trying to find out how to type these letters on foreign keyboards. There are several approaches to solve this:

• Open up Microsoft word. Go to Insert, Symbol, select Normal text, select your characters and press the button Insert.

• Send an e-mail to yourself which contains the special characters while you are at home.

Open the mail when you are in the Internet café

Select all the special characters.

Copy them (use the keyboard shortcut for copying – it is normally ctrl+C).

Switch to your e-mail program.

Start writing your e-mail.

When you need to use your special characters paste them (use the keyboard shortcut for pasting, it is normally: ctrl+V) then delete the ones you do not want to use.

Next time you need the special characters just paste them again (there is no need to copy them again unless you copied something else later).

• Learn the ASCII-code (a three digit number) of the character you want to type. You can then type the character by holding down the alt-button and typing the ASCII-code. Do not release the alt-button until you have typed all the numbers. If you want to type the letter Å for example just hold down alt and type 143. For a complete listing check out Wikipedia. Below you find some common examples:

Å 143 é 130 ñ 164

å 134 ê 136 ç 135

Ä 142 è 138 â 131

ä 132 ß 225 ç 135

Ö 153 Ø 157 ¿ 168

ö 148 ø 155 ü 129

ë 137 æ 145 Ü 154

If someone with a different character set than yours has been using your computer you may find all sort of strange things happening when using the keyboard. Maybe someone from Japan just used the computer and switched to Japanese character set. If the computer has another language set (e.g. Japanese) you can change back to English by right clicking the language bar (bottom right corner with two capital letters e.g. EN) and selecting your preferred language.

If you are on a really slow connection and have a lot of e-mails to open it is useful to right click each message and select open in new window or open the messages in a new tab. While you start reading the first mail, the others will be loading in the background. It may take longer for the windows to open but you save time instead of opening one mail, reading it, going back, opening another mail, etc.

If you are on a slow connection you can disable pictures to make downloading go faster. In Internet Explorer go to: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced. Scroll down to Multimedia and uncheck the checkbox Show pictures. This can drastically speed up your surfing.

It is also a good idea to have several windows open if you are visiting different web sites (in the Internet Explorer menu bar select: File/New/Window). Type the URLs in the different windows and read the one which loads first while the others load. Switch between the windows as they finish loading.

Sometimes you get asked if you want the browser or chat program (e.g. MSN Messenger) to remember your password. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT select yes if you are on a shared computer. Choosing yes means that your password is saved and the next person who surfs to the same site can get into it without knowing the password. Also do not forget to log out after you finish, do not just close the window. Many times we have been to Internet cafés where someone left MSN Messenger open while they were logged in. We could easily have opened their mail, sent messages to their contacts, etc. Log out.

If you enjoy playing video games you can often find the same game installed on the Internet cafés. If you want to keep going you can save your save game to the hard drive and e-mail it to yourself. Next time you want to continue playing just download it to the save game directory and you are set to go.

If you connect your camera/media player/memory card to a computer you should take care when disconnecting your device. Before you disconnect your device click on the icon in the lower right corner called Safe removal of hardware (if available). Select your device in the window which pops up and select disconnect. Wait until you get a confirmation message that your hardware can be removed safely before disconnecting your device. This process informs Windows that you intend to remove the device and ensures that you do not run into problems e.g. by removing the device while data is being saved.

A good way to get information you need while on your trip is to post a question in a web community such Virtual Tourist, wait one or two days and then check it again. You can get notifications to your e-mail if someone replies to your post on the discussion forum so you do not have to log in to the community to check if you have received any answers.

Chat programs

Using a chat program such as Windows Live Messenger), Skype or ICQ is a great way to keep in touch with people at home. You can keep conversations going with several people at the same time, send pictures, etc. Many programs also allow you to use a web cam and a microphone which enables you to make simple video calls to people. You can sometimes also make calls to fixed telephones and cell phones at very competitive rates. Check out your preferred service for details.

Personal Experience – The Evil E-mail Esquapade

Once when I was logging in to Hotmail on an remote Internet café the guy before me had forgotten to log off. I could not resist the opportunity and quickly sent a fake love letter to a woman randomly chosen from his contact list. As if this was not enough, I came back a few days later and, can you believe it, the same guy had forgotten to log off again. Evil as I am (sometimes) I read her reply. She said she was a bit unsure of what he meant – for obvious reasons. I replied to her once more telling how much I really loved her. Perhaps they are married now. Sometimes you have to help people getting their feelings kick-started
